Biblical Values

Teachers and staff in a Christian school have a distinct advantage over their counterparts in secular schools - they have a firm foundation from which to teach values.  By what authority can other schools teach values without the benefit of the scriptures?  Today's culture shows us that what is right and wrong undergoes continual adjustment when God is left out, but this is not new.  Over three thousand years ago the Bible states that everyone was doing "what was right in his own eyes" (Judges 21:25).  We all want our students to become successful adults - but there is more to life than a lucrative career.  Jesus asked in Mark 8:36 "what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?"

Each day at the Academy of Christian Leadership starts with a chapel service that focuses on reading through the books of the Bible and taking away a practical message on how to live our lives.  And this practical application of the Bible does not stop after chapel service.  In all our encounters with students, a Biblical Worldview is emphasized.  Honoring parents, working hard, caring for each other - all these truths are found in the pages of the Bible, and those that obey them will find true happiness and develop an attitude that is pleasing to God.  Where the word of God is banned, we find the opposite:  disrespect towards anyone in authority, cheating, and bullying - all of this, of course, leads to unhappiness.

The Academy of Christian Leadership is a non-denominational Christian school that emphasizes primary doctrine; secondary or divisive issues are referred back to a student's family and church.  Our focus is on supporting the family and the church, surrounding students with the word of God to help them find the right path.  We see our role as part of the threefold cord of family, church, and school, and "a threefold cord is not quickly broken" (Ecclesiastes 4:12).

We take seriously the commandment of Deuteronomy 6:5-7,
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might.  And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart; you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up."  Surround your children with God's message in one of the most important influences in their lives:  school.

The Bible should be taught so early and so thoroughly that it sinks straight to the bottom of the mind where everything that comes along can settle on it.  Northrop Frye
